MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The YMCA of Marquette County closed out 2018 Monday morning with a special fitness bash. For just $5 anyone was able to sign up for the fitness bash that featured weight training, TRX, and even Zumba.
“We have our circuit training with the trainers going on with kettle bells, medicine balls, ladder drills,” said director of personal training and fitness Travis Alexander. “Then following it we’re going to have a nave dance hour with Tracy doing Zumba.”
Personal trainers were on hand to make sure that everyone was doing the workouts properly, and getting the most out of the bash.
“Here at the YMCA we’re all about community,” said Alexander. “So it’s a nice way to bring all the members together through exercise and fun.”
The YMCA felt that it was important to host a clinic like this to not only teach people some new work outs and techniques, but to close 2018 and open 2019 on a high note.
“It’s New Year’s Eve and everybody’s already thinking about the next year, so why not take some time to have a celebration of fitness and fun and try to create a new habit going forward to the new year,” said Alexander.
It wasn’t just a workout at the fitness bash, there were even raffle prizes featuring gear and private sessions.
“We’ve got some hats, we’ve got some healthy nutrition options that are going to give the members some nice options to kick into 2019,” said Alexander. “We are giving away personal training sessions, some small group sessions. Some stuff that people will actually use around the goals of fitness and health.”
The YMCA plans on hosting more events like this throughout 2019. To stay up to date on those, as well as learn how you can sign up for a membership, visit their website.
