The Rushville Parks Department is working to re-utilize the space formerly occupied by the old Park Restaurant.
The department will install outdoor fitness equipment at the location and allow some of the area to return to green space. Approximately 24 gravel parking spaces will be added, which will eventually be replaced by asphalt parking.
“It’s something we have talked about since I was hired on,” Director of the Parks Department Dan Burklow said. “The equipment is going to be weather resistant. It seems to fit the area.”
The equipment will be mostly weight resistant and won’t have a lot of moving parts. The project will be completed in phases over the next year or two.
The project is estimated to cost between $25,000 and $30,000. Burklow said depending on budgeting, the equipment most likely won’t be installed until next year.
The department is looking for funding to help purchase the outdoor fitness equipment. Those interested in donating toward the equipment can contact the Parks Department at 765-932-4146.
