MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – From now until the end of March everyone is invited to Perform4Life gym in Marquette during regular business hours to work out and donate their moves.
Perform4Life is participating in the annual ‘Let’s Move for a Better World Challenge’ put on by Techno Gym.
“It’s a challenge to call attention to childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles,” said Dawn Evans, membership services coordinator at Perform4Life. “So we are inviting people into the facility to come in and just get moving with us.”
The challenge runs from March 11 to March 30, and gyms that reach 1,000,000 moves can win prizes.
“A move is a method of measurement that Techno Gym uses,” said Evans. “It’s acquired by the intensity and the duration of your activity, so the harder you work, the more moves you earn.”
Perform4Life is hoping to win new exercise equipment for Marquette Area Public Schools. Thursday they held a special small group work out session to collect moves, and you didn’t need to be a gym member to attend.
“Come on in, stop by the facility,” said Evans. “If you’re looking for more information you can head to our website perform4lifemqt.com.”
Perform4Life knows that once they get people in the door, they’ll want to keep coming back.
“The facility is awesome,” said fitness challenge participant Wendy Lemire. “The technology and all the equipment makes it easy to use. I never used gym equipment before so it’s been a welcoming environment. The trainers are here all the time to answer any questions, it’s great.”
To help out, you can download the My Wellness app from the app store or Google play. Then, track your workouts at Perform4Life from now until March 30. You can also track outdoor activities.
“The app is extremely helpful,” said Lemire. “I was recently on vacation and i used the app on all of my trail hikes. I can log in and log out very easily.”
If you’re interested in becoming a member at Perform4Life, visit during normal business hours, Monday-Thursday from 7am-7pm, Friday from 7am-6pm, and Saturday from 8am-1pm.
